Sleep Apnea

It is fairly normal for most of us to snore from time to time, especially if we are tired.

The rattling sound we hear in people who snore is actually caused by the vibration of tissues in your throat, such as the soft palate and uvula (the small finger-like projection hanging in the back of the throat).

Some people, however, actually have a minor defect in their throat tissues. The defect prevents the proper amount of air from entering the windpipe. This condition is called sleep apnea. Restricted airways are caused by many things, such as an abnormally large uvula, blocked nasal passages, a poorly developed lower jaw, and in more serious cases, polyps, cysts, or a deviated septum.

Obstructive sleep apnea is a more serious form of sleep apnea. People with chronic conditions like this often suffer from restless sleep, and can develop more serious conditions such as high blood pressure, heart arrhythmias, and even congestive heart failure.

Take a look at some of the oral appliances we offer:
aveoTSD® | EMA® | Silent Nite® | TAP®

aveoTSD® Anti-Snoring Device

The aveoTSD® is a simple treatment for snoring. If you or someone you love suffers from snoring, the aveoTSD anti-snoring device will reenergize your life.

TTraditional mandibular advancement devices indirectly move the tongue forward by moving the mandible. But the aveoTSD directly suctions onto the tongue, preventing it from falling back into the throat and increasing airway volume. Made of medical-grade silicone, the aveoTSD is the only anti-snoring device that is indicated for anyone — including those who wear full dentures!

Save yourself from another sleepless night by calling your dentist or medical physician about the aveoTSD anti-snoring device today.

EMA® (Elastic Mandibular Advancement)

The EMA® (Elastic Mandibular Advancement) is a custom-made removable intraoral appliance created for the noninvasive treatment of snoring and Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). The sleep apnea and snoring device is designed to both advance the lower jaw (mandible) and open the bite to enable less restricted airflow during sleep.

EMA appliances help promote a deeper, more restful sleep by preventing snoring and relieving the symptoms of OSA. The snoring and sleep apnea device does not interfere with breathing through the mouth, even in cases of congested nasal passages.

It has many options for patient advancement, with five strap lengths and four elastic tension settings. Non-restricted side-to-side (lateral) or front-to-back (protrusive) movements of the jaw are possible while wearing the appliance due to varying elastic bands.

Silent Nite® Slide-Link

Your dentist can treat snoring and sleep apnea with the Silent Nite® Slide-Link dentist-prescribed oral appliance.

It is estimated that more than 90 million North Americans snore.1 Taking into account the snorer's spouse and children, as many as 160 million people are negatively affected by snoring. And snoring doesn't merely interrupt your sleep cycle. At certain levels of severity, complete blockage of the airway space by the soft tissues and the tongue can occur. If this period of asphyxiation lasts longer than 10 seconds, it is called Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), a medical condition with serious long-term effects.2

Silent Nite sl is a custom-fabricated dental device that moves the lower jaw into a forward position, increasing space in the airway tube and reducing air velocity and soft tissue vibration. Special Slide-Link connectors are attached to transparent flexible upper and lower forms. The forms are custom laminated with heat and pressure to the dentist's model of the mouth. The fit is excellent and comfortable, permitting small movements of the jaw (TMJ) and allowing uninhibited oral breathing.

TAP® (Thorton Adjustable Positioner)

The TAP® (Thornton Adjustable Positioner) is based on the same principle as that of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). The airway must be opened to allow air to pass through the throat. A constricted or collapsed airway causes snoring or sleep apnea. The TAP anti-snoring device holds the lower jaw in a forward position so that it does not fall open during the night and cause the airway to collapse. It maintains a clear airway to reduce snoring and improve breathing.

The TAP anti-snoring device is comfortable and custom-made to prevent any change in teeth position or mouth structure. It is patient-adjustable, allowing for maximum comfort and effectiveness.
